Chapter 6
"Making Up/The Cat's Out of the Bag"
The next morning when Stephanie woke up she was really excited about calling Jesse yet really nervous. She looked at the clock. ’Ten o’clock...he should be up.’ she thought to her self. She was just about to pick up the phone and call when it rang. She thought it might be Jesse. She answered it, “Jesse?” “Umm...no...it’s Chris.” she heard the voice on the phone say. “Oh hey Chris...sorry.” she said apologizing. “Oh that’s ok....umm...I just wanted to see if you were ok. Are you?” he asked her...he was still thinking about his feelings for her. But he knew he really couldn’t tell her with her and Jesse where they are. “Yeah...I am...I’m about to call Jesse,” she said happily. “Oh...ok.” Chris said kinda happy yet a little disappointed, “Umm...may I speak to Matt a sec?” “Oh...sure let me get him...hang on.” she said putting down the phone and going to Matt’s room. He was up playing the computer. “Matt...telephone. It’s Chris.” she told him. “Ok.” he said. He went to his phone. “Hey...can I use you cell to call Jesse?” she asked him. “Really?....yeah.....that is great!!” he said handing her his cell phone and picking up the bedroom phone to talk to Chris. Stephanie went in her room and hung up the phone so Matt and Chris could talk.
She dialed Jesse’s cell phone number. “Hello.” Jesse said when he answered his cell.
“Umm...hey...it’s me.” Stephanie said. “Oh...hey.” Jesse said happily. “Umm...I was thinking about yesterday...and I want to forgive you. I knew you were telling the truth but I just was so...you know.” she told him. “Yeah...I know. Again I’m sorry...it shouldn’t have happened.” he told her. “Don’t be sorry...she kissed you. And I was thinking about how you kissed me.” she told him. “Yeah?” he said waiting. “And...umm...I knew that if you didn’t really like me you wouldn’t kiss me they way you do.” she said. “I kiss you the way I do because...this may sound like I’m rushing things but...I love you. I truly do.” he said. “I love you too.” she said, “Hey...let me get ready and I’ll walk over there.” “Oh ok...can’t wait to see you!” he said. “Me either.” she said. “C-ya in a few. Love ya!” he told her. “Love you...bye!” she hung up and squealed with happiness.
While Jesse and Stephanie were talking...
“Hey Chris...what’s up?” Matt said to Chris on the phone. “Oh...not much.” Chris said, “But I have to tell you something.” “What?” Matt asked. “Um...is Stephanie on the phone?” Chris asked. “No...she is talking to Jesse on my cell.” Matt answered. “Oh.” Chris said, “Well...about Stephanie...I think I’m falling for her.” “Really?” Matt asked. “Yeah...she id great. But please don’t tell her or the guys. Especially Jesse...I don’t want him to hate me.” Chris said. “Oh I won’t...I promise.” Matt said. “I don’t know what to do.” Chris said, “I’ll just do what I’ve been doing...not thinking about it. I just had to tell someone who knew her. I’ve told my mom but she hasn’t met her yet so...” “Ok...just hang in there buddy...you’ll figure something out.” Matt said. “Yeah...I will...thanks!” Chris said. “No problem.” Matt said. “Ok...well I’ll see ya at the studio around 2.” Chris said. “Yeah...ok!” Matt said. “Bye!” Chris said. “C-ya man!” Matt said and they hung up.

Stephanie got ready quickly. When she came out of her room, she saw Matt. He was thinking about what Chris had said. “Hey Matt...I’m about to go over to Jesse’s.” she said smiling. “Oh cool...so you forgave him?” he asked. “Yes...I was thinking about it and all and I knew he wouldn’t lie to me...I was being a brat about it yesterday. I didn’t even listen to him.” she said remembering how dumb she was. “Ok...I’m glad it all got worked out. Chris told you everything would be ok.” Matt said. “Hey...speaking of Chris...what did he want?” she asked. “Oh! Umm...nothing...just reminding me to be at the studio at 2. Are you gonna come with Jesse?” he said. “Oh...yeah...sure.” she said as they walked down the stairs. “Ok...I’ll see you there.” he said to her as he walk into the kitchen. Stephanie went and told her mom she was going to Jesse’s and then left.
Stephanie walked the block to Jesse’s house. When she got there she walked to the door and rang the door bell. She waited a few seconds and then the door opened. When Jesse saw her he hugged her. He held her in his arms like he would never let go again. Then she looked into his eyes. “It was less than a day...but I missed you.” she said smiling...a tear of happiness was forming in her eye. “Me too.” he said smiling. He kissed her softly on the lips. They sat down on the steps in front of Jesse’s house and talked. They talked for like three hours...not about anything really...just stuff. Jesse looked at his watch, “Hey...it’s 1:30. We better head to the studio.” “Yeah.” she said. “There’s my mom.” he said pointing at his mom’s car pulling up in the driveway, “I want you to meet her. Then she can take us to the studio if she doesn’t have anything to do.” Jesse and Stephanie walked up to his mom who was getting out of her car. “Hey mom.” he said hugging her. “This is my girlfriend, Stephanie.” he said putting his arm around Steph. “Hi...nice to meet you. Jesse has told me how much he liked you.” Mrs. McCartney said as she shook Stephanie’s hand. “Nice to meet you too, Mrs. McCartney.” Stephanie said, “I really like Jesse too.” “Umm...mom could you give us a ride to the studio?” Jesse asked his mom. “Oh sure sweetie!” his mom answered. They all got in the car and headed that way.

Chris was the first one at the studio...besides the managers and people. He was sitting in the studio thinking. He didn’t know what to do. He really wanted Stephanie to know how he felt...but he didn’t want her to know. He was in a real dilemma.
When Jesse’s mom pulled up to the studio she told the kids bye and they got out. Jesse kissed his mom and then she left. Jesse and Stephanie went into the studio. “Hey Chris!” Stephanie said. “Oh...what? Sorry...I didn’t hear you guys come in. Hey!” he said again shaking off his thoughts. “Oh that’s ok.” Jesse said. Stephanie was hanging up her and Jesse’s coats. “So...you guys are back together I see.” Chris said. “Yeah we are...I was being a brat yesterday.” Stephanie told him. Jesse sat down in a chair. Chris got up to go over where Jesse was. Stephanie stopped him. She said in his ear, “Thanks. You were right when you said everything would be ok.” She hugged him. “You’re welcome.” he said quietly. As she gave him a hug he was thinking, ’Oh no...there is no way I can’t stop thinking about her! Oh man!’ Stephanie went and sat down close to Jesse. Chris sat down too.
A few minutes later the other guys came in. “Hey ya’ll!” they said. “Hey!” Chris and them said back. “Do you guys know why we had to come today? We don’t have anymore concerts scheduled.” Frankie said. “I think we just have to talk about stuff...Christmas break and when we are off and stuff.” Chris told them. “Oh...ok.” Greg said. Just then their manager came in, “Ok guys...here it is. I just wanted to tell you that you are officially off and to have a great Christmas.” he told them. “That’s it?” Matt said. “No...you came here so you could get stuff you left here that you may need over the holidays. The studio will be closed.” he said. “Cool.” they all said. “But it will be open for the rest of the day so ya’ll can hang here if you want to.” their manager told them. They all decided to stay there for a while. They didn’t really have anything to get from there. A few clothes, Chris had some hair stuff and that was about it.
They hung out for a while...chatting about stuff. Then they all got hungry. “Why don’t order a pizza.” Greg said. “Ok.” they all agreed. The called and ordered it. “We have to pick it up.” Frankie said. “Oh hey...since you are going out anyway could you take me by my house for a sec so I can see if my brother is home and if the babysitter is there?” Jesse asked Frankie. “Oh sure man!” Frankie answered. “I wanna go too.” Greg said. “Ok.” Frankie said. “We’ll just stay here.” Matt said. “Ok.” Jesse said, “See you in a little while Steph. Love ya.” Jesse said as he kissed her on the cheek. “Ok.” she said. “Love you too.” Frankie, Greg and Jesse headed out the door.
Matt, Chris and Stephanie were just sitting around talking. Matt got up in the middle of their conversation and said, “Oh hey...I’ll be right back.” and headed toward the bathroom. “Hey---when ya gotta go...ya gotta go!” Chris laughed. Stephanie laughed along with him. When Chris saw her laughing he started feeling those feelings again. ’She is so beautiful when she laughs.’ he thought to him self. He was staring straight at her. She stopped laughing and said, “What are you looking at me like that for?” “Huh...oh...I wasn’t.” he said. “Matt sure is taking a long time in there.” Chris said changing the subject, “Wonder what he could be doing?” “Ewwww...Chris...nasty!!” she said as they both started laughing. Chris looked at her again thinking once aging about all that stuff he told hi self to forget. “What is it?” she still laughing a little. ’I can’t hold it in any longer. I have to tell her how I feel. I hope she won’t get mad.’ he thought to himself. “I have to tell you something.” Chris told her. “Ok...what?” she asked as she looked at him with a smile. Out of him, Frankie and Greg...she liked Chris the most as a friend. “I am...wait...I...I lik--” he started to say when Frankie and the guys walked in and said, “Pizza delivery!!” “Oh...goody--pizza!” Stephanie said to Chris. He just smiled forgetting about his feelings once more. He knew he couldn’t tell her now that the guys and Jesse were back. He and Stephanie got up to go get some pizza. Matt came back and they all sat down talking and eating.
